why yoga and mindfulness for parenting?

Because being a parent often feels like a roller-coaster. Being a mum of two, I sometimes feel like one minute, I’m a part of the best stand-up comedy show, and the next, I find myself running off the stage in frustration! The truth is that no matter how much we love our children, there will always be times when they push our patience to the limit.

Parenting has been a rough ride for me. It led me through the meanders of postnatal depression, mental breakdowns, and issues with my pelvic floor. Yet, I must admit that I still consider it to be the most enriching and transformative experience of my life, both mentally and physically. Mindfulness and yoga supported me tremendously on that journey because, I learned to let go of many of my expectations and enjoy the little things more. They gave me tools to respond to challenging situations more peacefully so the needs of myself and my children are more easily met. And yes, my needs are as important as those of my kids. There’s no way to care for someone else properly if we’re running on fumes.

I believe that each and every parent deserves time for self-care as often as possible. Let’s introduce it to your agenda together!

PRENATAL YOGA

You’re pregnant, and your body feels different every single day. There are days when you hardly realize that you’re carrying a baby, and other times when you struggle with many aches or pains in your body. My prenatal yoga classes go beyond simply modifying yoga poses to address these issues. They offer a combination of three unique elements: community, childbirth education, and yoga practice to make your pregnancy as comfortable as possible and empower you on your path toward parenthood.

Classes are recommended for pregnant women from 12 weeks. You don’t need to have any yoga experience, nor do you need to be flexible. Always check with your doctor before signing up for the first class.

POSTNATAL YOGA FOR PELVIC FLOOR

The first weeks of parenthood may feel like a lot! We went through labor, and we no longer grow humans inside of us, but the nonpregnant body feels very different, especially in the pelvic floor and core. If you experience similar issues, my postnatal yoga for the pelvic floor is the right one for you. Each class works to strengthen areas that may have weakened during pregnancy, release tension in body parts that feel tight, and foster a supportive community of other parents.

Classes are suitable for adults from 8 weeks after a vaginal birth or 12 weeks after caesarian birth onwards (once postnatal, always postnatal!). Always check with your doctor before signing up for the first class.
